How to wire a 3 post Toggle Switch?
I am trying to wire up a 12 volt system and the toggle switch I am using has 3 posts, what is the best way to wire? I am just creating a simple circuit between the battery and the device and just need to stop the flow of power from the battery to the device and back to the battery.
Usually the center connection is the moveable contact that switches from one to the other of the outside connections.

Where (a) is one of the "outer" connections and (c) is the other, with (b) being the one in the middle. That is a "single-pole, double-throw" switch. Often, the terminal that are connected are the ones opposite of the toggle position; imagine a see-saw inside the switch, with the center connection being the fulcrum.
Some three terminal toggles have a "center off" position where (b) is not connected to either (a) or (c). That is often referred to as a "single-pole, triple-throw, center-off". Therein, the fulcrum would have a sort of "flat" spot on the top where the see-saw part could stop and not contact either of the two outer connections.
