When and where was my guitar made?
I recently received a Fender Stratocaster (serial # Z1033138) as a gift. I tried Knowing when and where they were, but were not able to find the serial number is shown anywhere after checking several sites, including fender.com. Over there a volume control and 2 tone controls and also has a penchant for the tuner that plugs when pressed to again based on the string change the sound. Any information anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Hello! According to the Fender site (http://www.fender.com/support/usa_instruments.php) "Z" prefix serial numbers indicating the new millennium appeared on U.S. made instruments in 2000. Z0 denotes 2000; Means Z1 2001, etc., as always, is typically a prefix number and extent of overlap from year to year. Guitar Dater Project (http://www.guitardaterproject.org/fender.aspx) Your guitar was made in the factory Corona (Fender), USA in the year (s): 2001 to 2002. As for the thing by the ankles, I guess it's an add-on from a previous owner, and is similar to http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tuners/Guitar (or perhaps exactly like) Hipshot Guitar Extender (, _solid_peghead_tuners / Hipshot_Guitar_Extender_Keys.html). I do not think Fender tuners always installed the Drop-D their American-made Stratocasters, but even more strange things are out of the crown! Best regards, Dana
