Guitar - Overcoming Parrot-fashion learning
In this modern world, rapidly changing, people rarely have time to eat a decent meal, and yet less into a 500-page book on the theory of the guitar. It is understandable then that most novice guitarists to turn to tab sites and jam with their favorite bands as their source of learning solution. People are naturally comfortable with what we know and love.
This is not in itself a bad thing and should be encouraged from time to time as it is important to take some creative ideas abroad. However, too many guitarists too far, sacrificing the creative development of personality, determined to become the next Steve Vai and Kirk Hammett.
Now, I'm not exactly an inverted snob, it is the guitar, but we firmly believe in the talent unique and we all have in us somewhere.
There are two types of learning when it comes to the guitar:
1) be say something to play and how play
2) Know what the game can be, and how can I play
The two are clearly distinguished.
When you hear a song or read a map, which are essentially told what to play. There is potentially no creativity involved in this process, either, that the guitarist just "copies" of what they see and hear, including current techniques used (curves, hammer-ons, slides, etc..) In fact, the guitarist is often welcomed especially if they can play their favorite songs as close possible original as possible.
Time to be honest - with enough time and practice, anyone can learn to simply repeat. If the score is written, and you have an ear for music, you can be your hero of the guitar, unless your individual style (we shall return in a minute). However, if you're purely objective is to replicate as closely as possible, where do they fit into the expression creative music?
You see, if we want to avoid creating your own music, part of the brain associated with cognitive processes becomes redundant and is becoming increasingly difficult to implement effectively the creative instinct in the form of ideas in my head.
Knowing that the game can be played and how it is done playing techniques specific to their way RAW, so you can decide when and how to incorporate a certain type of corner and pull-offs, vibrato, using the expression, etc.
We also know how to create and strengthen chords and scale patterns based on the type of sentences you want to express. Features.
At the end of day, in my opinion, is much more rewarding to spend a week to really deal with the hammer "on" technique, rather than spend two weeks learning guitar solo from the song X X. If you arm yourself with sufficient knowledge of the techniques of game theory and the foundation there, you're ready to build solos and phrases you want ... Of course, no guide to obstruct or distract you, you're free to explore the first techniques you learned in the context of their own creativity.
So instead of "I need to double X-Series a step over" East " What are my options to link this note and the following note in the sequence "- you can choose a curve, or may feel the need to express it in a way completely different! We will make decisions based creative techniques is armed with bonuses!
Once they begin to fall in himself a little more depth at the end to begin collecting the theory almost automatically, in its way. Without being told, you will begin to see relationships between certain channels and FRET positions on your guitar. You begin to expand outside their "box" scales because they want more breathing space to apply their own creativity. Finally starting to understand that no "good" or "wrong" answer when it comes to creative writing and guitar playing ... Vs is not only an expression of another expression.
People may say "I just want to learn a song I have something to play the guitar that everyone knows -- nothing wrong with that at all, but not by all means they occupy most of his time to play.
Spend more time learning and exploring frets on the guitar. See the many choices you have to do their scales sound more alive and dynamic. Learn the ropes and ladders to work together so that you will never to blindly guess where fingers Plonk.
These are the foundations. As the technical thought and theory, it does not teach what you have to play - they just give you the foundation on which to build their own musical expression. Master this, and never want to "parrot" heroes guitar. Who knows, one day people will want to repeat, and I hope it will give them good advice;)
Enjoy it ... It's your music.
